Existence of God
Who's seen a God or the God or many of the Gods? Quite a difficult question to answer but on an equal scale - easier to put down.
So Can you see the God?
I certainly do not. That's because to extent of what I think about God is that it can't be seen but definitely
can be felt, shared and respected.
I say, God can exist and it does exist. But not as a christ, muhammad, buddha, or other forms of God. I wake up every morning, but I forget to thank someone for having let me face it. Not for the troubles my routines could give me, but to experience the feeling of being alive. Being alive doesn't make
sense to many, and hence there are numerous suicides around daily. But what they forget to get the glimpse is of the other beautiful aspects of life because of which people toil hard every single day to make it to yet another day. Statistically, I might be correct here. People live, procreate and die... even today. Well, did we even ponder on why it does happen or can there be a significant another for the same ?
There must be a reason that we live, not just because of the reason that we are unable to find its explanation - that we live are we are made to do so.
Science and God are correlated like the way God is related to other unbeknownst thing of the world. Without Science God's existence would have never been unfolded. And without God, Science would loose its sheen. As I say, Science has helped us in finding a description about God, some might find it ambiguous to fit this statement here. We talk about atoms and all the other particles and the aspects that makes us reason about things happening the way it ought to be not the other way round(Ya, it does seldom but even thats how it were meant to be). Next level of curiosity should draw us forth to what has led to this characterization of things being relative to one other. Consequences are interconnected. Some of them goes unseen, and doesn't draw our curiosity to make us further investigate upon it. However, there has to be a reason, why things exists ?
My figments of imaginations and thoughts makes me believe that - God inside everything makes them exist. God isn't something that has to be holy, as sanctified descriptions our holy books would rather say. God is about being yourself.
God is about being kind enough to
acknowledge the facts that God exists in others as well. Its not our weakness that we try to seek for God, but rather its our step forward becoming more of a Godly entity. God is in you, so its in
others. So does it realllly exist?

Superficial talks
Call it an Irony of being thrashed with the facts and figures that approximates a potential of delivering something substantial or Call it the mockery of the rudiment intelligence we vaguely try to become proud of.
The last time I was home, August 2007 – Roing was reeling under the age of blackouts, with constant powercuts for weeks and months altogether. This was the time when Roing people were busy protesting against the Dam projects.
Well, to this day... Roing is still in the Dark age, where Candles have become a necessity and electric generator – a luxury.
The only reason that you get when you talk to the officials are – insufficient funds and ofcourse the torrential rains. But, this wasn’t the case 8-10years ago... Roing was affluent with its own aspects. And powercuts was a phenomenon in Summer which wouldn’t last more than a week.
But 10 years down the line, when most of the Arunachal seems to be happy and optimistic about developments touching their vicinity ... condition in Roing has worsened. I wonder, which kind of developments that we are talking about.
It’s winter now but Roing is still engulfed under the dark cloud of power shortages, which would be an Irony to the fact that Dibang Valley has the potential of becoming one of the largest hydropower houses.
So...I keep asking myself, if Roing or Dibang valley is better or worse than ever under the current regime of Arunachal Pradesh? And should the generation of 1000’s of megawatts for big companies or few 10’s of megawatts for the rightful owner of the land – be the concern of Arunachal Government?
Answer seems quite obvious... and our protests too - even if the whole of Arunachal Pradesh has different view on it.
So... we Protest.

The Difference that matters
As a young school boy I was always fascinated by Mukut Mithi and adored him a lot. I felt or cheering him standing in the midst of the crowd emulating the scenes of documentary I used to see on popular leaders of the world. To know our leader better I always looked for opportunity to listen to his speeches. Finally I had the chance and it was during the year 2003 in Hunli when the election campaign for the newly amended panchayati raj was in full swing. I was then ignorant about politics and had mind-set of a typical VKVian. After the speech I was however disillusioned from what I could understand that development in Arunachal would come from 'ruling party'.
A year later Mithi lost power in the government and was back in the village for a strategic campaign meeting of the congress party. That was the time when some sections of educated youths from the community were actively campaigning for a political change. They
had the grievances on leaders for not doing enough for the youths. It was my second chance to listen to Mithi then. Having listened attentively I soon realized the difference in him. From what I could understand from the meeting, the other public leaders that accompanied him talked only on petty issues and sounded too bitchy. Since then, on numerous occasions I had the chance to listen to him but I vaguely remember any of his speeches since it didn't matter to me much.
The year 2007 saw rise of All Idu Mishmi Students Union (AIMSU) under the leadership of Tone Mickrow, a mechanical engineer graduate. The Dibang Multipurpose Project, India's highest dam of 288mtr was by then a controversial debate in the community. The student union disagreed with the local public leaders and the senior members of the community on Dibang dam as solution for the backwardness of the region. I was then involved in the issue reporting for the newspapers local and national. In the midst of the anti dam campaign, I accompanied the student union delegates in their meeting with Mithi who was then the Lt Governor of Puducherry. Perhaps the concerns expressed were too obvious so things didn't turn out satisfactory.
On 28th August 2008 I had another chance to be part of the meeting to discuss on Dibang Project. The Chief Minister had called all the organizations raising concerns for direct talks in Itanagar. I vividly remember when Mithi who was also part of the meeting said "Dibang Project is of national importance". However AIMSU in its earlier campaign had said, "National interest not at the cost of our community". The point of disagreement lies here which the neither side will easily undermine their own perception. The student union looks at the issue in terms of worst case scenario and is sensitive to any sort of misadventure with the community. Whereas Mithi being a political leader is committed for a larger cause. However, he acknowledged the difference in perception and approved the concerns raised.
There are matters on which nation’s interest cannot be compromised. However though dams can be literarily termed as in nation’s interest but the constitution guarantees enough space to a citizen to fight for protection of environment as well to protect the rights of the indigenous community. So a citizen that abides by the constitution cannot be working against the interest of the nation. AIMSU had strongly articulated its fear on indigeous rights being undermined by saying, “Don’t violate fundamental rights under the guise of development”.
What is needed right now is to bridge the difference in perception and to incorporate the
community interest first. The Dibang Project can be substituted by other 100 large dams planned in Arunachal Pradesh that can meet the power requirement of the country but there can never be a subtitute for the Idu Mishmi community. Here there would be no second chance. And as I write down I keep recalling my younger days.

Box office
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The story is of John Oldman, who claims himself to be a 14,000 year old Cro-Magnon caveman, and who survives until the present day. The entire film is shot inside a small room, relying solely on the intellectual discourse between the John trying to prove his claims and his friends.
Do you like anthony hopkins? Yes - this should be a treat for you. It's a film based on the legendary New Zealand speed bike racer Burt Munro. Munro set numerous land speed records for motorcycles with engines less than 1000 cc at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in the late 1950s and into the 1960s. Many of his records still stand to this day.
Inspiring movie... Age doesn't matter to the success. Success before your death would make you alive...
Everything is Illuminated:
If you like world war movies, with nazi's attrocities over jews, sort of Pianist type, this movie would be an all together different experience. The country side of Europe and the beautiful landscapes that adorns it - this movie has every bit of it.
This film is based on the story of a yound american Jew's journey to Ukraine in search of the woman who saved his grandfather's life during the Nazi's liquidation of Trachimbrod, which was infact a small village during the world war period.
Feast of Love: It is romantic movie starring Morgan Freeman. A movie that captures the significant portions of the lives of people, in and around you, which you might be aware and unaware of. The movie highlights on some of the facts of a broken relationship or shortlived relationship. It has a cast, which depicts a person trying his best to be the best for his partner, all in while forgetting to actually realize that he infact never saw deep into his partner; but at last realizes that it's not a love to hold against what your love actually loves.
And there are other casts with their own part of the stories to share.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An American Crime: It's a crime-drama film based on the true story of the torture and murder of Sylvia Likens by Indianapolis housewife Gertrde Baniszewski. Fans of Juno ( catherine keener ) would certainly love this movie, and ofcourse shed a tear too.
So if you have missed all these while, a movie that can make you shed tears or the least fill your eyes, this is the movie you should go for sure. A high quality performances Juno Star.
A story or the plot telling here would certainly eat away the climax of this movie, so I prefer to cut it out here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Atonement:It's a movie based on Ian McEwan's popular novel " Atonement". Directed by Joe Wright, this movie is yet another of the kind of movies for people who like serious movies. James McAvoy and Keira Knightley, starring movie is about the impassionate love story they share, and how a mistaken identification by Keira's younger sister, brings their Love story to a totally devastating stage, which finally locks the fate of their love story. This story revolves around the Younger sister's life and how she tries to recuperate or atone the mistake she had committed and how her elder sister finally ends up paying for whole of her life.
A yet another must watch...
It's a 1991 drama film directed by Rober Mulligan, and was also the film debut for Reese Witherspoon.
The story is about a 14year old Reese, falling in love for a guy, who in turn falls in Reese's elder sister. The film focuses on the pain of the two sisters infatuated with the same boy, and the way relationships with family and friends gets affected.
The movie highlights the innocence, at least most of must have experienced, the so called Teenage infatuations, finally leading to overspilling Crush Lists.
That's it for now... Enjoy your movies...

Durga Puja - How I miss that
Durga puja, has a special place in the history and the tradition of Roing. Unlike any other local festivals, be it Reh or Solung, I think this is one of the event that everyone celebrates in pomp & gaiety and the celebration goes on for days all together.
Am not religious, neither I prefer making myself sound like one... but Durga Puja was a different thing to me. For Bengali's and many folks around, this festival would certainly be about praying and wishing. Well, I can say for myself and most of the youths back in Roing - this Puja was all about having fun, and tons of it infact.
It's been more than 6 years by now, when I last marked my presence in Durga Puja, and 2008 too will get added, and am quite unsure about the 2009 as well. I call my friends every year, especially in Durga puja, enquiring them about the Puja pandals and lottery pandals for the Puja.
Religion certainly doesn't have anything to do with it, and in my case it will never - since I've none.
Hanging around with friends, the whole day long... loitering with no business, but with bags full of smiles for every one you come around in the crowded road, talk about how you just made Rs.200 out of the only 50 you'ad. Talk about the lucky seven...and brag a little about the expertise you seem to posses to throw those TTballs to earn you the bucks... Bored... Get lost in the crowd again... Smile around... Look around... Come back... and try your luck.
Well, so much to do in Durga puja. And did I mention about how I won more than 25 beer bottles in a single day - well, I did once.
Certainly not a puja around.... but more than that.

Dam updates - Roing Woes !
I'ad asked Raju Mimi, editor of Veracity( local daily of Roing ) to tell me few points about the meeting, few members of AIMSU ( All Idu Mishmi Students Union ) along with some delegates from Roing, had with the Chief Minister of Arunachal ( Mr.Khandu ). This team of delegates were accompanied by former CM of Arunachal, current Rajya Sabha MP, Mr.Mukut Mithi.
So below is what Raju responded back me with ( source: Idu mishmi community, Orkut )
Our meeting with CM n Mithi sir was not a success...
However...the points we got them to listen was..
-The state govt is loosing its independent decision making policy owing to huge financial investments in this dam building process.
-Why bargain with people for sake of NHPC? And why cant the govt bargain with NHPC for the people?
-Theres nothing like Dibang Project being of national importance. Its only the politics of business. Many auto, cement, steel and other companies want their goods to be sold, so dams has to be built.
Mithi's Response:
-If people don't want dams then there can be no dam. But the govt needs to appoint an expert committee to study the facts.
-Downstream people are not project affected.
-expressed unawareness of such large scale destruction before the project was initiated.
- Not having dams is also not a solution.
-I want our boys to each individually, in their own capacity strongly fight for our rights.
-otherwise we are already a minority...we will stand nowhere in the future...
-theres no point condemning our leaders but we must make them understand the situation. we need collective effort.
-taking part in our social activities for two years, i realised our community is very weak financially and academically. Even to celebrate our own festivals, the community cannot even mobilise Rs 1 Lakhs rupees. Its only when Mithi or Umbrey or NHPC gives donation.
-ANSU, NES and all other Nyishi afiliated organisations can also easily mobilise crores of rupees.
....Our young generations can no more look for state govt for employment since no one is there to help us....either compete at national level or dare to be different."
--Under his leadership Tawang has got all the centres attention and even tibetan refugee issue has died out. Remember some Monpas i have met are not comfortable calling themselves as arunachali whn they are out of arunachal. rather they like call themselves as Tibetan.
-Theres no point of talking of development if our own Idu people cannot decide for their future. Its time to make our community strong. Our people becoming CM or MP or MLA or Lt Governor is of no use when our community cannot strongly defend their rights. (Wangcha Rajkumar was shot dead in his own hometown, remember if our leaders neglect our own community then same fate may fall on our leaders. So make the community strong, only then our own community will protect us.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I certainly couldn't understand with the point that, "Not having Dam is also not the option"...
What can one make of it?
The idea of people deciding for themselves simply gets killed.
